Nearly 20 years in music, with many interesting pieces passing through along the way
Trying to find the perfect piece? I'm happy to help you locate your dream gear
I have wired/set up numerous custom commissioned builds so I'm happy to hear out any project/configuration you may have in mind. This also includes simple pickup/electronic swaps in solid/semi hollow/hollow body guitars
My job is to help get you the guitar and gear of your dreams - safe, sound, and ready to rock!
-
Long time Guitar tech and builder that's been playing & making music for nearly 2 decades.
-
I specialize with instruments spanning the '50s-Present, this includes '50s-60s-Present day Gibson's, Fender's, Epiphone's, and Squier's
-
I know the feeling of having a piece of gear rock your world and I want to be able to share that experience with you! All of the gear I sell is from my own personal collection, meaning I've spent plenty of time dialing in each and every one to have them playing and sounding beautifully
(unless otherwise stated, as I do come across interesting project pieces from time to time!)
-
Feel free to check my past Reverb reviews, which are 5 star guaranteed, I go out of my way and beyond to accurately describe all the items I offer; As well as fully video document my complete packing process not just for insurance purposes but more importantly peace of mind for both parties involved
-
I've regularly shipped Fender's, Squire's, Epiphone's, and Gibson's (electric's and acoustic's) not only cross continental US, but also as far as Alaska, the UK, and Germany, all of which arrive safe and secure to their new set of hands. Whether it's a more affordable piece, or a more rare example, all of my transactions and packing processes are top priority as I want everyone involved to have no stress, concerns, or worries at all!

Mark Speer of Khruangbin has one of the most sought after tones in all of music.. the out of phase sound. Made most famous by Peter Green (of the original Fleetwood Mac) in his 1959 Les Paul 'Greenie' - a 'phat strat' tone that the late B.B.King would go on to say was so good, 'it gave him cold sweats'. Mark's 70's Classic Series Fender Stratocaster operates on some of those sonic tonescapes, it was his guitar tone and technique that inspired me to build 'Speercaster' guitars & loaded pickguards for fellow fans alike!
-
Ask any gigging or recording musician and they will tell you what it all comes down to is the tone, and if your electronics are factory stock chances are they aren't always ideal for either gigging or recording
-
This is where a loaded pickguard can take any guitar - from a Squier to a Custom Shop - to an entirely new place of playing & sonic territory. The Dimarzio Cruiser out of phase sound is one of the most input responsive, touch sensitive, and note articulate out of phase configurations I've come across to date. There is a particularly special translation between the fingers, frets, and Cruisers that is hard to put into words - it feels like a natural conversation with a dear friend, you speak to your instrument and it responds back so very uniquely in its own voice
-
Dimarzio needs no introduction, one of the top dogs in the pickup game for decades, but more importantly, artist approved. This particular wiring configuration encapsulates those out of phase frequencies that filled the airwaves of the '50s-60s-70s. The Cruiser offers a perfect balance of vintage tone & output, particularly when wired out of phase at the neck
-
Mark Speer/Khruangbin pickguards vary from 295$ & up just depending on build specifics as I'm happy to tailor the price & performance to any player's situation. The standard configuration is the out of phase neck Cruiser *M.Speer/P.Green tone*, with Squier/Fender coil in the middle *or any other of your choice*, and the in phase Cruiser at the bridge
-
'The Infamous Bill'
'The Infamous Bill' is technically the most accurate while remaining cost effective build. Featuring two Dimarzio Cruisers wired out of phase at the neck, and in phase at the bridge. This particular arrangement comes very close to Mark's actual set up. Using a stock Fender single coil in the middle, and stock Fender electronics assemblies (pots/switch/wiring/capacitors)
-
'Mr. White'
'Mr. White' is the next step in the Funkification process - Here, we've introduced a Fender Noiseless single coil in the middle position between two Cruiser's, adding even more flexibility in your journey for tonal landscaping. With a Noiseless middle coil this offers not only a clearer & cleaner tone, but allows for more use for the middle position which without a Noiseless can emit the known '60 cycle hum' under heavier overdrives & gains or through more microphonic amps
-
'Dearest Alfred'
'Dearest Alfred' is that Funkadelic Flower at full blossom - In this stage we add both Cruiser's, a Fender Noiseless (or other pickup of your choosing) paired with upgraded switch & CTS 500k pots for added brightness & tonal clarity for those who lean heavy into the clean, but still want to get mean - this is if you seek a level of clarity like that of a Shaolin Monk preparing to spar with Ipman.. but with even more added clean end for your playing/recording ear's pleasure
-
I'm happy to mix/match or add/subtract various components to help accommodate any price or performance point so feel free to send over any questions you might have!
